the frozen tundra......

cold weather driving requires lots of hot sauce on your
breakfast burrito...

yeah, scary....with solid ice and poor visibility, there
are always other drivers who fly by passing us!

truck chains come in 50 pound bags, and are really
fun to install!

marc adjusting the slack with frozen fingers!!

rest stop.....our "exercise for the day". i'm surprised
we're not all fatter than we are with so little exercise
in our days!

as you can see, we went thru some pretty gnarly weather as we came back out west. nebraska, north dakota, montana, wyoming, and even oregon were terrible this trip....ice, wind and snow. we had to chain up twice to keep from sliding off the roads! we passed 2 big rigs off and on their sides, as well as numerous cars and SUVs. by the time we got to our destination, we were late (5 hours), exhausted, and grumpy. i even growled at the fed ex guys when we got to seattle. i knew when we reloaded in boise that there was NO WAY we could get over the mountain passes in the 8.5 hours they had given us! the guy said "oh sure you can...just follow one of our guys". i snapped back "HAVE YOU LOOKED OUTSIDE AT THE WEATHER TONIGHT besides, we have seen your fed ex triples jack-knifed across the road recently! no thanks!" ahhhh, the frustrations of being a truck driver!

Damn Fed ex people! That looks like NO FUN. Hopefully you will get to go to some sunny destinations soon. Hang in there!
