WAFFLE HOUSE...

they all look the same from the outside....big black letters
on a yellow background. and they are a small rectangular
building, with the kitchen open and in the middle.

marc enjoying his waffle and eggs. (yes, SOUTHERN diet food.)

here's our cook mark who always had a comeback for
the waitressses.

here's the view from our chairs at the counter.....the
kitchen is open for everyone to watch.

ok, so i know this is pathetic, doing a blog about a chain of restaurants called "Waffle House". the thing is, they are very entertaining! they are found all over the midwest and in the south. right now we're in atlanta, georgia waiting for our truck to be fixed, so we ventured out to the local "spot". if you've never been to one, you'll have to go! the "folk" who work there always greet you as you come in. you find wherever you can to sit....they're not very big at all. then after the waitress takes your order, she SHOUTS it out to one of the cooks. there were 2 cooks this morning....mark and paul. so she yelled (because it's very loud in these places) "mark, sausage and a burger".....then after he says "c'mon" she yells some more of the order, adding how to fix the eggs, sandwich, whatever. the cooks and waitresses banter back and forth, always with half a smile as they yell at each other. i tell ya, you'd have to be there to appreciate the humor. we just sat there quietly, checking out the other customers and watching the show.

one more note: we went to walmart to pick up a few things, and i wandered to the cosmetic aisles looking for some powder bronzer. (no MAC stores nearby). anyway, nearly all of the displays and makeup were for black skin! i had to search to find my "physicians formula" which has stuff for we paler girls. funny, we really are in the minority down here....which is fine, just different.

Who's the minority?- depends on where you are. There must be a message in this somewhere.

I think the waffle house sounds fun! I'll have to make sure to go to one of those somewhere, sometime!
